About Me
Hi my name is Joan and my business It's not just a cake! is based in Bolton where I create and design bespoke Wedding cakes and Celebration cakes and bake my delicious cakes in the relaxed surroundings of my kitchen.
My love for baking started at an early age, when I became intrigued by how my mother made her Christmas pudding. All the mixing of different dried fruits, spices and the special addition of the silver sixpences wrapped in grease proof paper all added to my desire to make cakes.
Since then I have gone from strength to strength developing my recipes and flavours for that personal touch.
Whilst I was enrolled at college on the baking and cake designing course, I entered a baking competition for a Madeira cake and won First Prize, the grand sum of £26.
Over the years I’ve refined my skills and developed my own unique cake designs. 30 years on and 2 grown up children later the opportunity has arrived to start my own business and I’m enjoying every minute of it!
